The Cook County Assessor has an excellent and very useful website. It contains a search engine which allows you to search the assessments and characteristics of homes or other residential properties on a specific block. It also contains a listing by township of the dates when assessment notices are mailed and the last date for filing assessment complaints. There is a guide to the assessment process and information regarding tax exemptions. The site also contains information about programs available for senior citizens. You can also get a listing of the property tax code classifications.
